The Astana Arlans Kazakhstan are owned by the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation (KBF), the sport's national governing body. The team is named after the alpha male wolf - the leader of the pack - an animal that has been admired and respected for centuries by the nomads of the Great Steppe for its intelligence, strength and courage. The team is managed by a dedicated team of staff under General Director Bolat Mankenov, with Head Coach Sergiy Korchynskyy overseeing the sporting side. The team is sponsored by JVC KazMunaiGas and JVC KEGOC, government owned gas & oil and electrical power companies. The Arlans are followed by media partners nur.kz and sports.kz, the national internet portals mainly covering sports and entertainment.

With 32 boxers from a total of nine countries, this was an international squad with worldwide appeal. Arlans shows were stunning, including of course their tiebreaker victory in the most exciting Team Finals ever seen in the WSB. The question on everyone’s lips now is how will they fare with the arrival of the new powerhouse Cuban Domadores team this season?
Coach of the Russian youth team under the guidance of Nikolaj Hromov (Russia) for two years until 92 before various stints coaching the Ukrainian Olympic boxing team saw him land the Head coach job for the youth team. Koranchynskyy will now be leading the Arlans and will be assisted by a team of coaches that includes Beibut Yeszhanov (Kazakhstan), Oleg Kovalchuk (Kazakhstan), Victor Demyanenko (Kazakhstan) et Léonard Pijetraj (Croatia).
